University of Mauritius provides various financial aid options for students:

  • STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS
    • The University of Mauritius (UoM) Postgraduate Scholarship is awarded to the best final year student from an undergraduate program from each Faculty to follow either an MPhil/PhD program or a taught Master’s program at the University. General Fees and Tuition Fees (excluding Registration and Students’ Welfare Fund) will be waived.
    • The UoM awards Scholarships to Mauritian School Leavers ranked after Laureates to cover all University fees except for Registration and Students’ Welfare Fund.
    • The UoM Scholarship Scheme for Disabled Students is meant for Year 1 Mauritian students with disabilities who are enrolled in UoM programs at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. For undergraduate programs, it will cover the Administrative Fee, and for postgraduate programs, it will cover the General Fees.
  • STUDENT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
    • The UoM SFAF provides financial assistance to Mauritian needy students who come from low-income families whose monthly household income does not exceed Rs 25,000/- per month. The assistance will cover the whole Administrative Fee or part of it payable by students enrolled in full-time non-tuition fee paying undergraduate programs.
  • FEE WAIVERS
    • UoM offers a waiver of 50% of the Block fees for undergraduate programs (except for MD and Dual Degree programs) to international students coming from approved University Recruitment Agents or from African mainland, including SADC and COMESA member countries, or from Asian Developing Countries (e.g., India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, China, and Indonesia).

This institution provides a distance learning mode for certain programs or courses.

The University of Mauritius offers various distance learning programs through its Centre for Innovative and Lifelong Learning (CILL). These programs have evolved over the years:

  • In 2015, CILL began offering fully online programs, including BSc (Hons) Educational Technologies, MSc Educational Technologies, MA Educational Leadership, and MBA online, along with an MBA in Innovation and Leadership.
  • The university initially used Moodle 1.9 on an internal server for its Learning Management System (LMS) platform in 2009.
  • Currently, CILL has upgraded to Moodle 3.11.6 and shifted to Moodle Cloud hosting, primarily for hosting fully online programs, leading to the award of full Postgraduate degrees.
  • The MBA Innovation and Leadership program, in collaboration with Ducere Global Business School (Australia), is delivered using the CANVAS platform.
  • A new fully online undergraduate program, BSc (Hons) Information Technology, is in development, in collaboration with the UoM Faculty of Information Communication and Digital Technologies.
